If you need to know more about the various software types and levels, see this post. The easiest way for me to show you how you can do something like this is with a real project.Īnother thing you need to know right away is that the technique I’m talking about today is a feature of Business Edition only. I know there are many folks who get used to using 1 program (such as Silhouette Studio) and so like to stick with it as often as possible.I wanted to incorporate a design I had already created and saved in SS.That means I personally can work faster in it than in other graphics programs I haven’t taken the time to learn as well. I’m used to the tools in the Silhouette program. But there are several reasons I chose to use Silhouette Studio (besides just wanting to teach you something new): I’m going to start right away by saying that there are MANY other programs to use for this sort of project, and many of them are probably easier and better. All opinions expressed are my own and are not tied to any compensation. This helps me to be able to keep my business going and provide more tutorials. That means if you click the link and purchase something, I may receive a small commission. Note: This post may contain affiliate links. In today’s lesson, I’ll show you how to save a Silhouette Studio design as an image (picture). Although I wanted to get the mug printed professionally, I used my Silhouette software with Business Edition to create the JPG image I sent to the print shop. Recently, I wanted to make a coffee mug for some dear friends who had moved away and recently returned to our home turf. I like to find ways to use it unexpected ways. Be sure that “Inkscape SVG” is selected, name your file, and click “Save”.One of the things I love about the Silhouette Studio software is how flexible it is. Go to “File”, “Save As” to save your file.Drag your design back onto the project mat. Delete the one in the back by selecting it and pressing your keyboard delete button. Drag the top copy of the design over to reveal both designs. You’ll notice that the black arrows have moved and are now tightly around your design. Inkscape just worked it’s magic! It might not look different but you’ve now got two copies of your design.A pop up window will appear and you’ll will want to change the “Brightness cutoff” to. From the menu at the top of Inkscape, go to “Path”, then “Trace Bitmap”.You’ll notice that arrows appear around your project. png input, choose “Embed” and click “OK”. Download and install Inkscape (it’s free).I covered gave a step by step tutorial to do this yesterday. ![]()
